Frequently Asked Questions

What is the band set up process?

The sooner, the better! If the venue space is available we will set up the sound system and stage lights on the morning of the event. Full band set up and sound check will be complete at least a half hour before guests enter.

How long does the band normally play for a wedding reception?

4 hours on average, but if the party is going strong we frequently play an hour or more overtime.

How many breaks does the band take and how long are they?

We love to keep the momentum going! The band only takes 2 breaks during the entire event, including overtime. If it is a wedding, first break is during entree (20 mins) and second break is after the cake cut (15 mins).

Does music play while the band is on break?

We make customized play lists of your favorite songs to play on each break.

What is included in the consultation?

Months before the event Jodi Light meets with the clients and discusses every detail of your vision to make it a reality.

Does the band carry liability insurance?

Absolutely! We carry $2,000,000 liability insurance and certificates are available upon request.

For a corporate engagement, can the band host award ceremonies?

We have 20+ years of experience hosting award ceremonies! We offer custom ons and offs and our musical director is adept at wearing a headset and taking cues.

Is there an extra charge for learning our favorite song?

No way! It is our pleasure to learn your song! We are here to create memories for you and be the perfect soundtrack for your event.

Does the band Emcee?

Yes! Jodi Light is an expert at emceeing events. She pays attention to every detail and works with all vendors and the banquet captain to ensure smooth success.

Why does Shining Star cost more than other bands?

That's a great question... Simply put, we are worth it!

Shining Star has a stellar reputation and there's a very good reason that we have all 5 star reviews and are in the top 5% in the country.

Live music is an unforgettable experience and you need a band that you can trust to make it perfect.

The quality and experience of our musicians is unparalleled, combined with the fact that owner, Jodi Light, fully coordinates and creates a custom timeline for your event. Shining Star is a musical family that truly loves to play together and your guests will feel that fun, positive energy.

How much of deposit is required to secure my date and what is the easiest method of payment?

Only 25% of the total amount due is required to secure your date. Remaining amount is due before performance on the day of the event.

Quickpay with Zelle is the most popular payment method. Most major banks participate in Zelle and it is instant with no fees. We do accept checks, cash, money order, Venmo and Cash App.
