Born in Lima, Ohio, Jodi has been performing since the age of two. Jodi’s break came at the tender age of five, when she landed a guest spot on the Mike Douglas Show. Followed by an array of other national guest appearances, she next began a television career at WHIO-TV out of Dayton, Ohio as a weekly feature on a late night talk show where she worked with many guest stars, inlcuding Vincent Price, Desi Arnez Jr., and Sally Fields. At the age of eight, Jodi was given her own T.V. show, “Jodi’s World,” which won several Emmys and enjoyed a successful eight year run. At age 17, Jodi attended the Fred Waring Workshop at Penn State University and was chosen to become one of the famed Fred Waring “Young Pennsylvanians.” She toured with the Waring group for two years playing in America’s finest theaters to large crowds. She also appeared with the Waring group on the syndicated televised special, “Parade of Stars,” taped at the Palace Theater in New York where she had the honor of meeting and working with such greats as George Burns and Milton Berle.
She then moved to Phoenix, Arizona at age 20 to further her musical education at ASU, and began performing in jazz and dance clubs there. For the next ten years Jodi sang, danced and entertained thousands of people all over the world including engagements in Singapore at the famed “Scorpion Club,” in the Cayman Islands at Ramada’s Treasure Island Resort, at the Luxor in Las Vegas, Trump Castle in Atlantic City, Caesars in Lake Tahoe, and Richards on Richards in Vancouver, B.C. among others. Jodi also opened up for many famous acts to cheering crowds of up to 30,000 for such names as Lee Greenwood, Spyro Gyra, The Letterman and The Righteous Brothers. Jodi’s achievements include a successful nine month engagement at the internationally famed Regent Hotel Hong Kong, named “the number one hotel in the world” by the leading tourist and travel association. She recorded several dance singles while in Hong Kong, which were featured on “E” television. Her studio / vocal efforts appeared on a double-CD Dance Compilation released all over Asia and Europe in July 1996 of which she sang two songs, both of which were released as single cuts.
Back in Phoenix, Jodi is the vocal talent for Phoenix 11 and News Channel 3 singing on “Three TV…the place with more stuff”, “Phoenix 11…good for you” ,“Home with Terri O”, “Fran & Frasier”, “Caroline in the City & Frasier”,Channel 3’s award winning Christmas Spot and “We Can All Do Something Good” charity campaign. Jodi also sings the Fry’s jingle “Count on Us” in English and Spanish, as well as many other commercials regionally. Jodi’s band Shining Star, along with Jodi, has performed with Joni Sledge of Sister Sledge in concerts around the country, including an appearance at the Democratic National Convention in August 2000 for the President and White House Staff. Jodi has also been seen performing the National Anthem at America West Arena for Phoenix Suns and Rattlers games, as well as pre-game and half time entertainment . Jodi’s CD, “I Am Right Here,” was released in February, 2003, and can be listened to on Spotify. The CD is comprised of 14 cuts, only one of which is a cover, and is neo-soul, funky R & B, and poetic, with jazz overtones.
Originally from Phoenix, Az, Mario is no new-comer to the music industry. Playing bass guitar since the age of 13, Mario’s talents have been recognized by many great musicians and non-musicians alike and is the “first-call” bassist in the state for studio work. He attended Mesa Community College and Arizona State University on music scholarships. He has played bass with many renowned jazz artists the likes of: Joe Farrell and Alex Acuña to name a few. He’s recorded with the original Four Tops where he re-recorded with them 26 of their greatest hits including “Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)” and “Ain’t No Woman Like the One I Got” to name a few. Mario wrote, produced and played on the song “Clutch” which is the second cut on smooth-jazz recording artist Nelson Rangell’s new CD “Far Away Day”. Mario appeared on the syndicated televison show “Motown Live” where he performed with the original “Soul Man” Sam Moore and Denise Williams. Mario also co-wrote “Show Me” on Marion Meadows”In Deep” CD. Mario had the distinct honor of playing on Billy Preston’s Beatles Tibute CD… Billy is officially known as the 5th Beatle making it a very special honor. Mario musically directs SHINING STAR and is responsible for the wonderful arrangements heard on stage at every performance.
Mario has been making a name for himself as an solid live / studio bassist and Musical Director for artist such as: Jeff Lorber, Everette Harp, Brian Simpson, Mindi Abair, Kim Waters, Gregg Karukus, Eric Darius, Alexander Zonjic, Marion Meadows, Nelson Rangell, Glen Cambell, Sam Moore, Billie Preston, Denise Williams, Brian Bromberg, Ray Obiedo, Steve Oliver and Jay Soto.
